It has been one month since Merribell died. I have thought of her often over the past month. I am happy to report that all four babies are alive and doing well. It was not easy at first and I was worried over my little Fawn. My daughter's goat, Molly, had babies and she was kind enough to let Fawn nurse (she had not eaten anything in two days) and she got her little tummy so full she could hardly move. Two more days went by and she still would not take the bottle but a friend was here at feeding time and got her to take the bottle. Yea! Now Talia decided she did not want to eat and I had to work with her. I have sold Ellie and Talia so they have a new home.
We have also had another set of twin does. Trixie had her babies on March 25th. I had been expecting them sooner and had been watching her closely, but nothing happened. I had decided she had been bred three weeks later than I had thought, after we got Gabriel back from my daughter, so I had relaxed my diligent watch over Trixie. My son was home and he was watching Trixie because he thought she was acting different. In the late afternoon he said he was going to go check on her and he called me a minute later and said the babies were coming. My grandson and I ran out there just in time to help Trixie deliver two beautiful little doe babies. They came about a week early and I was really worried because my daughter's doe had delivered early and all three babies had died. It was heart breaking for all of us. These little ones were names by my son and grandson who were there and helped with the birth. The first one, born at 5:00 pm, is Tribal because all wet she had markings on her face like "Tribal tattoos" and the second one, born at 5:10 pm, is Tinker Bell, she is the white one.
